Native Roots is a full-service landscape company dedicated to creating thoughtful, sustainable outdoor spaces throughout Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Founded by Cincinnati native Ben Necessary, Native Roots combines decades of horticultural experience with a passion for plants, people, and the natural world.
Ben’s journey- from studying horticulture at the University of Kentucky to working in Hawaii and at the Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden- shaped the approach behind Native Roots: every landscape is a living system that deserves careful planning, knowledgeable care, and respect for the environment.
Today, our team brings that same curiosity and expertise to every project, from landscape design and installation to ongoing maintenance, invasive species removal, and seasonal property care. We believe great landscapes should do more than look beautiful- they should function well, support local ecosystems, and bring people closer to nature.
