Shrubs are a perennial plant found in many yards and the term is used interchangeably with “bush.” Unlike some perennials, shrubs have woody stems that do not die back each year, though. They also are classified as being below 13 feet in height and having several woody stems rather than a singular trunk, and are often round in shape.
